Spice Mages

The Land of Kitchen has always been vibrant with the scents and flavors of Spice. From the musky earthen tones of the Bark Keepers to the citrusy waves of the Lemongrass Plains. Although not without some feuding, the Spice Tribes have kept a reasonable level of peace amongst themselves.

Lately, a creeping threat has been oozing across Kitchen with flavorless intent. The Spice Lords are referring to it as “The Bland.” From the darkened, uninspired depths of the Kitchen, it creeps across Horseradish Trees and Garlic Boulders, leaving sentient, tasteless dishes in its wake. Under Seasoned Undead shuffle across the yellowed Turmeric Mire, and Stale Specters haunt the darker depths of the Gingerroot Grotto.

Spice Mages is an incredibly simple, narrative-focused one-page TTRPG that focuses on creating and casting unique spells centered around spices, their flavor profiles, and words associated with these factors.

Due to the word-count limitations, we left the world of Spice Mages open to YOUR interpretations and ideas. With that being said, we would LOVE to see what kinds of things you come up with! Let us know in the comments what additions to the Kitchen you add.

Are there stinky Garlic Grottos where the mages must wear some kind of breathing apparatus in order to bypass the incredible stench? Or perhaps, the temptations of the Vanilla Vinyards are too much, and what hides inside knows the sweet smell entices victims into their clutches. Maybe the players are tasked with dodging the dangerous Poppy Pod Groves, where stepping too close could result in an unpleasant explosion.

What dark creations has the "Bland" left behind in its wake? Gritty Golems that drip with unflavored mush? Insipid Imps that fly about, leaving a flavorless taste in both your mouth and mind? Perhaps the mages are forced to delve into the swirling vortex of the Umami Voids, where no flavor is able to survive? 

Perhaps you've come up with a homebrewed rule or mechanic that adds to the game in a great new way! Whatever you create, we want to hear about it and build a community from.
